Is Kalettes® a genetically modified product?

Not at all! Kalettes® is a non-GMO vegetable developed through traditional hybridization and not genetic modification. Kalettes® comes from crossing kale with Brussels sprouts – a natural fit since they are both members of the Brassica family which also includes cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli.

What makes Kalettes® so special?

What makes Kalettes® so outstanding is its fantastic flavour. This is the result of combining the complex taste of the sprout with the mild, sweet ‘nutty’ taste of the kale. Its taste is milder and sweeter than a Brussels sprout making it very appealing for children and adults alike.

Where can I buy Kalettes®?

Due to the success achieved, Kalettes® is now becoming more widely available at European supermarkets. You can currently find Kalettes® at Waitrose, Aldi, ASDA, Lidl, Mark&Spencers, Sainsbury´s, Marks & Spencer and Tesco in the UK; at Edeka, Rewe and Kaiser’s Tengelmann in Germany; at ICA and COOP in Sweden; at Bama in Norway; at Coop and Migros in Switzerland and at Albert Heijn, Jumbo and Hoogvliet in The Netherlands. Due to the positive response from consumers, Kalettes® is expected to become available in more supermarkets in Western Europe in the near future.

Where is Kalettes® produced?

Selecting good growers is key to guaranteeing the strict quality standards required by Kalettes®. At present selected producers in Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK are growing the product.

Can I eat Kalettes® raw?

Yes, you definitely can. You can leave them raw and maintain their nutty flavour by slicing Kalettes® from stem to tip or slicing off the bottom.

How can I cook Kalettes®?

Kalettes® is incredibly versatile. It can be steamed, microwaved, stir-fried, boiled, blanched and even eaten raw. You can find more information on how to cook with Kalettes® in the Cooking & Recipes section.

Why can I not find Kalettes® in my store?

Kalettes® is a natural product, which means it doesn’t grow all year round. Currently Kalettes® is available in Europe from the end of October until March. However, to satisfy the growing demand, trials are being made to extend the Kalettes® season.

Where can I find Kalettes® in the store?

Kalettes® is a cooking vegetable. This means you should be able to find it either with the Brussels sprouts and artichokes or in the packaged vegetable section. Kalettes® would never be available in the bagged salad section!

What is the nutritional content of Kalettes®?

Kalettes® is an excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin K. In addition, they are a good source of vitamin B6. With twice as much vitamin C and B6 as traditional Brussels sprouts, Kalettes® are a nutritional wonder!
